Hi. I’ve said in a previous thread of yours that my tiles are the same as yours. We used this to seal - and I think they were sealed twice - before and after grouting - however your supplier should be able to give instruction. Are you doing this yourself, and are you an experienced tiler?? This is one time when I really recommend getting a professional in. These tiles are brittle, very tricky to handle and even trickier to cut! My very experienced tiler said they were a nightmare. If you aren’t a tiler, it could turn into a very expensive mess....
Hi @Sarah U-S , Thank you so much for the reply. No . Our builder is doing the job. Till now he done great job extending the kitchen ,bedroom etc . Finishing is amazing . But he said he never did marble flooring . But he said he is OK to do that. I am really struggling to say no to him . But he don't know about sealing 🤭. That's why I am so nervous ... I am thinking if I know something about sealing etc I will order these and give it to him . My kitchen size is 30sqm. How many bottles we need for the whole area. Is it ok for polished marble as well. Thank you
Hi - you’d need to Google the sealer and check their application process in order to calculate quantity. There are other brands of sealer available too - this just happened to be the one sold by the company where I bought mine.
There’s an online shop called Mandarin Stone who sell marble. They have a really good help section on their website that includes installation instructions along with guides for sealing etc. I recommend that you and your builder have a really good read and then agree your plan of action together and before the work starts!!! https://www.mandarinstone.com/advice-support/
PS - if you read the information on the photo I posted of the sealer, it says 1 litre will do two coats on 10 square metres of Stone floor. Therefore if you have 30 square metres, you would need 3 litres.
I asked the supplier and they said use ltp sealer . I found 2 of them not sure which one is better . I will ask again . The supplier is not really helpful . I never use them again. Don't want to spend lot of money on return postage . Thank you
@Sarah U-S Would you be able to advice about grouting please. I don't like big grout lines . Is there any difference between big or small grout lines? I saw some pictures without grout lines at all .
White or grey which grout is good for marble tiles ? Thank you. If you don't mind if you have one small close up picture pls post it . Thank you
Regarding grout size - I can’t remember what I went for, but it was whatever the supplier suggested! Mandarin Stone will probably have some advice on this.
The colour of grout is a personal preference - I went for the same colour as the original photo of the advert that you posted on your other thread - the picture with a tray of red apples on the tiles!). The colour is called Jasmine. I was recommended by the supplier not to go for a grey or dark grout because it could stain the tiles. Again, I would ask the supplier for their recommendations.
Also - I have my tiles on the walls. I chose a soft grey porcelain for the floor, so I don’t really know what they would be like on a floor - although I suspect they could be very slippy!
PS - LTP Sealers are good (I’ve used Mattstone on my slate kitchen floor). Given that the marble is polished, you should probably go for the MPG sealer.
Thanks for all the details. Really helpful. I bought lpt sealer polished ones. And I emailed all the other questions to the supplier about grout etc. I read few documents in mandarin stone website . That site really good. Thanks a lot for all the help . I got a little bit idea now what to look for. Really appreciate .
My stepson is very informed on natural stone and has his own tiling and flooring company. He also knows a lot about sealing stone. Im sure he can advise you if you need further advice. His name is Gary Bass and company is Apex Grange in Welwyn Garden, Herts. Tel 01707 338800. He also has a store in Dartford, Kent. If you’re all sorted, then no worries.
