Advice on kitchen island/dining table
Hoping for some advice on the layout of our kitchen island and dining table. The kitchen supplier tells me that there is not enough room to place the dining table where it appears on the attached plan - there would not be enough circulation room around table and between island and table. The only option seems to be to move the island up a bit further (in the direction of the sitting room) and place a round dining table in the corner window. I'm not sure that this will look ok - the island will be off-centre and there will be a big
empty space behind the island... Any advice would be appreciated!

Comments (0)Hi, We're looking for some design options for a house we are planning to buy. We love the house location but the kitchen \ living area is proving to be a bit of a dilemma. There is a lot of glass in the kitchen area with full length windows to the front and rear which limits the options for layouts. We had a kitchen design prepared but are unsure if this really makes the best use of the space - it includes a corner dining area which while using the space feels a bit cramped for a family of 5. Due to the door position into the kitchen the builders design looks odd as they have placed the kitchen table right in line of sight of the front door so placing the table there seems a no no. We want to have an island in the kitchen ( its plumbed etc for one ) which we can have up to 5 high seats around which is in the design. We would like to have a TV in the room ( again limited places to put one on the walls due to the glass ) and would like some suggestions on layouts there also ( maybe the TV has to go ! ) - without something that completely blocks the access to the rear doors. Comments (1)There will be plenty of room for you to have an Island within your Kitchen / Diner. I would possibly look into a maneuverable island rather than a fitted, to ensure that you have ample space should you cater to more than 6 guests. (I've attached a Layout). Comments (0)Have lots of space and am looking for 8 seater min, with perhaps extending to 10. Rectangular or Circular, but think rectangular would work best. 2 years agoHmm too bad, as I put the sink and hob in the island in this layout. Opposite the island a nice hutch. Also moved the fireplace, double sided type, as it would allow for a true open style. Sectional sofa, perhaps tv on the bottom wall. The windows have counterop height units in front, the one opposite the dining table could be a desk, where the tall unit in the corner is placed sideways (open shelving towards desk). Dining table is 230x110cm in the drawing, imagine very comfy chairs around it.

2 years agoStill an 8 meter kitchen, but the peninsula breaks up the length of the space. Next to the stairs ceiling height tall units with glass doors (at least in top half) for 'nicer kitchenware'. Sink and dishwasher along the wall, since water is there and the room has underfloor heating, can't go in island.. Lots of storage, fridge in the first ceiling height tall unit on the right. Units on the top wall with freezer and oven(s) are lower than the others, about 140cm, some artwork above.
