help with kitchen color scheme

I am thinking of having dual tone kitchen ---indigo and white. My dilemma is which color to have where so that it doesn't look disjointed. I have attached the kitchen plan . I was thinking Tall units and base units to be indigo while top units and island to be white.

Would this work better or tall units and island indigo with white top and base units in between? Any other suggestion? I am thinking of having white worktop but am open to ideas. My floor tiles are light grey-white.

Hi Orla. I've looked at your ideabook and assume you're happy to stick with the monotone look? I'd look at papering the ŵall behind the bed in Cole and son library panel wallpaper in midnight (pic will follow but it would also look good in a light shade!). The rest of the walls I'd do in a pale but warm grey. Which way does the room face in terms of lights? Go for black bedside cabinets but maybe something with curved lines or round handles against the bed. Either glass bedside lamps with white shades or in a warm metal or pendants hung low over the bedsides, Stick to white bed linen but add a charcoal throw with lots of texture. Choose cushions with different texture and patterns from White through to charcoal. Depending on what flooring you have you could also add a grey textured rug under the bed. I'd go for plain pale-mid grey curtains. If you have the space/budget a patterned black/grey and white chair would look great. I think the key thing is texture for interest so maybe also a large antiqued mirror, a chandelier with a silk drum shade, white flowers etc.

Our living room is a cosy size, about 15x15. It has a large window on one wall, fireplace on the opposite (will be a cream cast iron traditional style fireplace). I was thinking of painting it a very mellow sage green but am at a loss with what curtains to put in.

Hi.. have a look at the Colortrend colours for kitchen. You can use a darker version of wall colour for kitchen units also. Definitely paint them skirtings! hope this helps.. Tony

My sister dithered for ages what to have. In the end they chose navy blue/grey for all the units and very pale grey walls. Worktop was a beige-green and it looks fab.

I would keep the island in blue the same as the base units and tall units.
