I posted a while ago as the bottom steps matched the floor and it was difficult to see.
Decided to change floor so not an issue.
Before floor is fitted, am now considering changing / improving stairs as they are a bit orangey for my liking.
Thought possibly changing spindles to something less ornate and painting them white? Get a new staircase. Or could paint existing but a visitor passed a comment they were bit dated so don’t want to paint existing and then be disappointed. And what colours would work. I think possibly a dark colour for the rail. Maybe paint on the treads/risers?
I think the staircase could look great but I don’t know how to achieve so open to ideas.
Existing treads are scratched quite heavily in places.
Did consider glass but not sure if this is a passing trend and the hall already gets very hot from the velux windows but equally make area bright.
Would I have room for staircase to split in two directions for example, if I centralised it more?
Here are a couple of photos. Nb The carpet will continue down the stairs as a runner when its finished. We may also change upstairs doors. Downstairs likely to be a wood / Karndean
floor
Any suggestions welcome - thank you
