Where to render, where to clad

house Is well overdue a face lift, exterior is currently a mismatch of painted brick, painted render and painted York stone. I’m looking to render with k-rend or similar with some cladding to break it up. The obvious place (to me) is cladding on the right hand side double storey, or left upper corner. I really struggle to visualise which would look best though! Garage door and flat roof are also up for renewal. any comments suggestions welcome!

Flat rooms always leak in the end so I'd say change it for a pitched room, maybe a metal roof with a shallow pitch rather then a full tile roof? claddig down the right side could look good, wither in wood or a metal. the main issue for me is the rather opressive nature to the extention and the front door. it doesn't look very welcoming at all, maybe you could add a porch or render it in a different colour to the rest? make it a grander statement around the door and change the garage door for somthing with some small windows in at the top?

I do 3d Digital modeling for exteriors so if you want help I can create a digital model remotely so you can see what it would look like and play with options before you do anything.

Hi nick. Thanks. Yes, i have come to that realisation after being told it by everyone i speak to! So looking at hedging or other ideas for the side fences then shrubs / plants / flowers for the main parts. I'd be interested innyour ideas. On the other side if the fence, if you mean the road side, the footpath is right up against the fence. I'd say the footpath is maybe 1.5m wide, maybe a bit more.

I would move the table to the window end of the room for view out and light while you eat . Perhaps turn it 90 degrees if that would work with the door opening. You may be able to seat 4. Make the rest of the right hand wall - about half of it a floor to ceiling wall of built in storage including the fridge. Suggest deep drawers for lower and double door pantry cupboards sitting above. The left hand wall in a long line of counter top with the cooker, sink, washing machine, lower cupboards or drawers. Tile backsplash along whole wall and two long open shelves plus art. Definitely replace the flooring - timber or even black and white checkerboard.

Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Had no idea! Thanks again all.

Since you have a choice of any color, don't choose colors that clash with the purplish pink paint next door. I'd choose a creamy white for the body of the house, and very dark purple (aubergine/eggplant) for the trim. Navy blue would also look good. Avoid red or green. Awnings would look great. I can see striped awnings in a cream and navy, with the building colors selected from the awning colors. If you can't eliminate the wires, run them through conduit or cover them with an approved casing that runs right under the windows. Paint the downspouts the same color as the body of the building.
