Small, east facing outdoor space?

We're coming to the end of our renovation (hopefully) and need to figure out a design for the outside space. It is roughly 4.6m wide x 5m long. Because it's east facing I expect the sun to be gone by about 4ish. It's unlikely to be a great spot for BBQs but could be nice for breakfast or evening drinks with a bit of heating!

My thought is to treat it more like an outdoor room so when the doors are open it just feels like one space.

Really interested to hear any suggestions!

Is the wall at the end yours? If so, you could attach a large mirror to give the feeling of space. I’ve seen some lovely gardens with mirrors surrounded by plants attached next to them. And I’d paint that wall if possible. I’d love a olive tree in a large pot in that space, but it might be too tender for east facing so I’ll leave planting suggestions to others who know more than I on this.

Yeah the wall is ours. I was thinking a dark cooler for the rear wall?

I think this is a really nice kitchen - you've done a nice job. The only thing that is throwing it off are the two different floors in dining and kitchen area. I'd like to see the same flooring continued through both areas. I think you'll be very pleased with the difference it makes. Since you do not like the wood or the tile, perhaps a porcelain 12x24 tile would work for you. It's very durable, so you wouldn't have to worry about the Newfies scratching it and very easy to maintain. You'd could opt for one of the wood grains on the market or one made to simulate stone. I think a greyish color would work well.

How will you pose for your Miss Photogenic photo op? Will you go with the Carmen Miranda fruit bowl tiara? Or would the Easter egg thingamadooeys suffice? Decisions, decisions..... Maybe Grover could photo shop each one with your dress so we can decide? We wouldn't want to break any decorating rules because we do have our reputations to uphold. LOLOLOLOLOL

Hello CG, you can buy some of these and try them on site. From the pictures you posted I get the feeling you have 2 colors with similar saturation both fighting for attention. It's a little too much. I would keep the green but go softer on the red (i.e rust). You can also let yourself be inspired by the grey/silver/bordeaux floral and stripe pillows to create a brand new color scheme using these colors instead. For example, a very soft gray on the walls, gray carpet, grey/bordeaux combo in the curtains and for the sofa accents, pillows similar to these 2. It's decision time. Go for what speaks to you, but do it with elegance :-)

I can see a pale terracotta end wall, some lush plants in pots, an outdoor mirror on that wall and some comfy seating with an outdoor rug, if there’s any room. However, I’m not sure that’s your style? This sort of thing.
