Rug dilemma - plain, texture or patterned??

Hi so I’ve just had my family room wallpapered and grey suite in. Walls are a very pale pink. What kind of rug shall I go for without making it too full or busy please?

Are the sofas different colours as one looks grey/blue and the other pink/purple

Hi they are both the same colour - one picture was during the day and one in the evening. (Kids had made room messy so used a picture I took previously!)

fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area.Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa.

At the moment all your stuff is concentrated at one side of he room making it cluttered and bare at the same time. Pictures need to go at eye height, so maybe get a simple shelf built above the sofa at eye height for some knick knacks. Somehow your pictures seem very high up on the wall. You could cluster them together above the sofa maybe? You can still have your mantel but with maybe a better-selected range of bits on it. Agree that some shelving might be good in the alcoves but not above the line of the top of those pictures. I would have gone for a much darker colour for the walls (like navy blue) because the sofa would have blended in a bit more and it would look luxurious against the dark background. Plus dark colours give your stuff an instant quality upgrade. (I always say it makes my sh*t look like stuff) Sorry that's unhelpful as you've obviously made those decisions!!

Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well.

Hi. Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room.... I like this rug from Dunelm (first pic) which I think would go nicely. Or if you want a bit more pattern the next two are nice. They have colour but not too heavily patterned.

Now I thought that might be a bit too colourful! It’s from Amazon but there are loads on the market so you can do a google search if you wish.
