Need inspiration for window dressing
Comments (1)Okay, this is a kitchen but it has the same window/door layout. I agree with your idea of doing Roman blinds for the window and curtains for the door And some other photos...See MoreOld house Front Hall WINDOW DRESSING
Comments (10)Hi there, First of all, what a lovely space - the floor tiles are a really gorgeous feature! With these windows, it really is up to you. Shutters are fantastic for creating a clean, uncluttered feel, while, as Colourhappy says, a Roman blind is a great way to add a luxurious feel. Both create a classic look that will never go out of style. Alternatively, as you say, curtains are a gorgeous choice. Floor length curtains would create a real sumptuous look, but you may want to consider how this might block your radiator, especially if you intend to open and close them regularly. If you'd like some more inspiration on shutters, curtains or Roman blinds, you might like to have a look at our handy guides here: http://www.hillarys.co.uk/inspiration/2014/09/five-fabulous-ways-to-use-stunning-shutters-in-your-home/ http://www.hillarys.co.uk/inspiration/new-roman-blinds-and-curtains/ Good luck with your project, and make sure you show off that stunning floor!...See MoreBest light gray for a small and very bright living room
Comments (1)Hi, I think any of those 3 could look good, with white elsewhere as a contrast and bringing in some bright warm colours with cushions, throws etc. We repainted our house last year and used Farrow and Ball colours - Elephants Breath is very popular and looks great in our living room, we used their darker greys in our sitting room and hall. You can get Dulux to mix FandB colours so it works out cheaper if you like. I was afraid of it being cold or dark but love it!...See MoreAwkward Shape Living Area
Comments (7)Hi Pam, didn’t notice you’re dilemma before, just had a look at it. Milky Way mural sounds interesting. Although I’m a bit confused as to which wall you were thinking of putting it on. Is it the long wall where the fireplace is? The mural itself is most likely to be very dark in colour and like you say quite difficult to tie in with traditional furniture. But it could work with with jewel tone soft furnishings (emerald green, teal, wine red etc. in sumptuous fabrics like velvet and silk). You also say you have a conservatory garden wall mural upstairs on the landing, I imagine this to have a lot of green colours so I think anything downstairs should also have an element of green to link the colours through the house and create a better flow. Personally I wouldn’t put it on the fireplace wall as I think it would be too overbearing but the area where the dining table is would be nice and you could link it on the other side of the partition with paint colour and art. Was definitely thinking you need a rug in front of the sideboard as you come in from the hall. Maybe you could have a space themed rug:) here are some nice ones: https://jan-kath.de/collection/spacecrafted/overview/ https://www.kibek.de/teppiche/moderne-teppiche/81336/sky-and-sea Also here’s a link to some wall murals, I think the nebula ones with a greenish tinge would look superb. https://www.muralswallpaper.co.uk/wall-murals/space-mural-wallpaper/galaxy-and-nebula-wallpaper-wall-murals/ I’ll see if I can do some mock ups in photoshop, in the mean time here’s some inspo:...See MoreSara Krimou
