Does my boiler need these 4 (ugly) vents? I'm looking at changing the hole door as it's very dated. I hate the yellow plastic on white too! Do I really need 4 vents. Inside is a combi boiler with some dated shelving. Thanks!

The vents look pretty old and were probably white once. You do need to ventilate a boiler cupboard. Mine is in a kitchen cupboard and my builder drilled a couple of large holes (about 3” dia) at the top. You can’t see them. If you get a new door you could just put one larger vent in it? May be worth checking regulations before you do anything because regulations change all the time.

Ours is on the landing next to the bathroom. It's just hideous 😂😂 we've lived with it for 2 years but I've had enough of ignoring it now. Wasn't sure if a builder would come in just to change a door so was possibly going to attempt ourselves just wanted to make sure, I know we need some ventilation but I thought for was excessive. Thanks for comment 😄

i agree! yes those are doors to hotpress on the left so there will be dead space. Will attach those floor plans now shortly. Its definitely odd and its not sitting right with me. We are confined to a tiny space for laundry and that laundry chute on the right top corner (not pictured) is not movable to any other point. Its also supposed to be pictured as being atttatched to the ceiling above so the clothes are concealed. Its an old protected house so the window had to stay making it look very asymmetrical. Thanks for any further input! The problem is that we've already ordered the doors etc so theres no going back. Any ideas on what someone would have done had they the opportunity from scratch would be also well received! (we have loads of storage in a separate utility so this laundry is purely for clothes) Thanks in advance folks!

Hi, I think any of those 3 could look good, with white elsewhere as a contrast and bringing in some bright warm colours with cushions, throws etc. We repainted our house last year and used Farrow and Ball colours - Elephants Breath is very popular and looks great in our living room, we used their darker greys in our sitting room and hall. You can get Dulux to mix FandB colours so it works out cheaper if you like. I was afraid of it being cold or dark but love it!

Hi Odette! Have you had any progress with decorating? Hanging a mirror could be good in terms of light reflection and making a space seem bigger than it is. Just had a quick look at the regs and you don’t need external ventilation, just internal. That is there should be space all around the boiler within the cupboard to aid oxygen. Please do check yourself just to make sure, but a new door should be enough, fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞 A Handyman could easily fit a new door, otherwise a carpenter will. Good luck!
