Kitchen island pendant lights

Hello! Our beautiful new kitchen has a 3 x 1.2 metre island - dark blue with white quartz worktop, no utilities (just lots and lots of worktop for food prep - can’t wait!). My question is about lighting... will three pendant lights look enough? Will there be enough for task lighting? And if using three, what size should they be? This one I really like is 28cm diameter. Any advice or experiences would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Hello, there are plenty of examples with 3 pendant lights with chairs lining up underneath. I think it looks quite professional. You can always personalize the kitchen that commercial spaces cannot do.

if you're not going to center the dining room table under the light, then I'd tend toward a flush or semi-flush fixture, to de-emphasize the alignment. You might want to remove the medallion from the ceiling too. As for the kitchen it looks like you have decent overall lighting -- maybe you're looking for a couple of pendants over the island? simple glass globes, maybe? here are a few styles to start you out.

I am putting in a new kitchen in a large open plan room. I wI'll have an island that is 2.4 X 1.1 and will be moles breath colour from farrow and ball and a grey quartz worktop. Lots of lovely lights on that site.

I also have a number of recessed LEDs which will she’d additional light. My island is of similar condition configuration (with seating around a corner), but I am having my hob on it.

Thank you for commenting Lois C - they are nice lights, very elegant! Have you thought how they will be spaced? With ours, I’m thinking one in centre, and the other two evenly spaced between centre and 12inches from edge of island. Everything feels like big decisions right now... it’ll all be worth it though! Good luck with your plans.

Hi.

Yes, our first fix electrics are already in. Although, in theory, we should have been able to leave exact positioning until after the units were fitted (mid May), our ceiling is quite complicated: We have a hidden steel running down the centre of the room. So they have made special fixings in the ceiling, so that the pendants can still be fixed in the (hopefully!) best positions...

We have one in the centre, then one equidistant between the centre and each end of the island. I think that should be ok. So they are about 750mm centres I think. They are slightly off centre, width ways, away from the hob side.

Yes, too many big decisions. Not sure that I have made all of them right, but we are getting there. Current hold up are the bifolds, windows and doors. They are plaster boarding and plastering everything except for the reveals, but can’t finish or start the flooring until the windows are in. It’s giving me a bit longer to either about wall and kitchen cabinet colours 😱
