North facing bedroom - warm grey?

I am looking for advice for wall colour for a large (3m x 5m) north facing bedroom. This is my son's room (10 years old) so looking for a space for his pre and teenage years. The bed and black / dark brown industrial furniture will stay along with the fitted gloss wardrobe. We are considering a large mural or wallpaper or divided triangles in different shades of grey on the current star wall (mural could be as big as 4m x 2m). We have lots of red accessories (not unpacked yet) like red lamps, red and grey rug to reuse. Is it possible to make this room warmer? Are there warm greys you can recommend?

I struggle with finding a warm grey. When people suggest a greige I usually see a beige/taupe shade. My bedroom is NE facing and I’m going to paint the walls Dulux Polished Pebble, it is cool but I want it to go with a mauve feature wall. Other suggestions were Pebble Shore more of a very pretty beige. Here they are, first Polished Pebble, next Pebble Shore.

The worst that can happen is that you don't like it and have to repaint. I had to repaint part of my bedroom 3 times before we agreed on it.

I'm a huge fan of Farrow & Ball and their greys are lovely but if they're not working for you then why not try a different brand? The Paint Library Architectural range is very useful and they have a good range of greys in varying shades from I to V (I being the lightest) so you can use a III on the walls and I on the woodwork for a perfect tonal look. They're also grouped by undertone so they're really easy to use! Try Salt or Cotton perhaps? Zoffany also have some beautiful greys and have a similar shading system with some of their colours (quarter, half and double). In particular, I really love the Silver, Harbour Grey and Linen ranges.

repainting a bedroom ..have blush pink headboard and want to use grey on walls to make it more grown up and not to feminine...North facing room ..ceilings a decent height ... picture rail ...Also have to paint a triple door pine wardrobe so was thinking to paint same colour as walls to help it disappear a bit....

Help I'm finally getting around to painting my bedroom. I have an emerald/grass green velvet chair and an aged oak bed and bedside table, and I cant decide on what color to paint the walls, its north facing, I'm thinking a light grey but looking for some other ideas. Any advice welcome

Thank you all for the suggestions. My son is drawn to dark grey like F&B Railings or Down Pipe. Are there cheaper alternatives?

it depends what you mean by grey, the meaning of the word has got a bit lost in paint terms so it's a bit loose. What most people think of as grey is actually a very dull blue (true grey is black plus white and there is virtaully no paint on the market like that). Blue-ish cool greys will look even cooler in a North room so you then need to look at taupe greys (which contain red) such as Skimming Stone or Yellow based greys which can look slightly green. Something like De Nimes by Farrow and Ball is a lovely mid toned blue that would be warmer than a pale blue or pale grey but darker. This however would look cosier if that makes sense. Little Greene do some nice greys such as Slaked Lime (not too cool and quite neutral) and Rolling Fog which is slightly warmer. Hope this helps. It's a minefield!

I can’t find any close matches. You could try colour matching. Valspar and Johnstones seem to be the most recommended. I was also told Dulux now colour match rather than match to their nearest colour but no idea if it’s true!

if you did go that dark I’d keep bedding white, art and mirror on the wall etc (and paint the radiator!)

Johnsons is supposed to be the best in terms of matching I think. Downpipe is a lovely colour that is surprisingly blue and looks great with red. It would be dark but that may not bother him...?
