I would think about having windows which don’t have that extra pane at the bottom. Every bit of frame on a window cuts out light in the room. But I’m not very inspired when it comes to what to suggest to uplift the appearance of the property! You could change the render colour of course. Is the style of property repeated in the street? Sometimes it’s good to blend in, other times to stand out. I’m sure others with a better idea of this than I will comment and help you out. Angie
I agree with Angie. The style of the existing UPVC windows with that lower pane don’t seem quite right. I also agree that you need to look at neighbouring houses. Maybe there is one with the existing windows that will give you an idea how the house would look if you went back to the original style.
I also think that the house would look better if you did away with the strong contrast of black and white. Maybe choose a light colour for the walls and lintels that compliments the brick trim around the door and use the same colour only a few shades darker for the window sills, trim at ground level and the door. Blues and grey greens go with red brick. Maybe consider new door furniture in brass or antique brass.
If you want to push the boat out then maybe some wider new paving and a larger brick edged step to match the brick trim.
