rug on wood underfloor heating?

We have just installed a new wood (herringbone pattern) floor, with under floor heating in our open plan living area, and want to break up the areas with a rug, will this be possible, or will it warp the wood?

We don't see a problem with that at all, we presume you're not planning on a plastic or rubber rug?

Thank you that is a relief! We have a large Moroccan wool rug to use.

We have similar dilemma here. My husband likes the cream tiles & although I do like the look of them in a kitchen, I also worry about them being / looking cold if they were through the whole house. Plus it would most likely be me cleaning them every day! So it will be wood floors for us.

I assume you meant "floor". Tiles are usually considered the safer option in areas that have potential for spills or floods. Do you have heavy traffic (shoes worn in house, animals, children, etc) in these areas? If so, then you will have to worry about scratches in the wood and the occasional sanding/refinishing of the floor. You will definitely want the underfloor heating if you live in an area that gets cold. It is a personal choice, as I put wood in my kitchen/sitting room, because I love the warm look and feel of wood. However, I constantly worry about the scratches from the chairs and stools. We don't wear shoes in the house, nor do we have any animals, but I have had to put felt pads on all of the legs of the furniture.

We have just had 100mm of screed poured in our new build. Can anyone tell me how long we should expect to wait before it is ready for flooring? We will be tiling our hallway, utility and bathroom. We will lay laminate wood in the other communal areas and carpet in the bedroom. We have underfloor heating too but it will not be connected to electricity for 5 weeks. thanks!
