Kitchens Design Dilemma

Kitchen reno in an awkward space

hey,
I'm looking for inspiration and ideas on how to revamp my kitchen, which has a awkward (but interesting) feature.
In the pictures, you can see the large slopped wall, which lets in lots of light but restricts headroom.
I'd love to be able to remodel the kitchen to add in a full height fridge/freezer , and I was wondering about the potential of having a worktop coming out from the slopped wall to give extra workspace..?
I property is in London (Hackney), UK .
if anyone knows of inspiration, or similar projects, I'd love to hear about them. floor plan of the space also added.

What a wonderful apartment! I don’t see where you could fit in a tall fridge freezer. Could you maybe fit in a freestanding island/kitchen cabinet against the sloped window with separate under counter fridge and freezer drawers fitted?

thank you. Tt has a lot of potential, for sure. I was trying to avoid the undercounter fridge/freezer. but maybe that is my only option

My 2¢ worth: first of all replace the dark blinds with translucent cordless single cell blinds in ivory or off-white--they let light through and provide privacy + some insulation from cold or heat. Clean, crisp look.That alone will brighten up this space. #2: clear the counterspace!--so much clutter! Where to put all these appliances that get little daily use? Get yourself a ss 24x20 or larger cart on wheels (see Amazon.com--Seville classic ss cart) and store little used, bulky appliances on its shelves--and roll the cart into a nearby coat closet--out of sight and way-- to be wheeled back when needed or individually carried back as needed. 3#gorgeous blue tiled walls.Don't touch them. #4:Walls: keep as is if off-white--not same as trim white white.Just a fresh coat needed.To make it "disappear," paint the radiator the same color as the wall behind it. #5Keep the white trim white--looks bright and clean.Keep kitchen door white. You might want to stop here and make no further changes #6Cabinets: I like Gast pic above on right, but too much blue for your blue-tiled kitchen...IMO. I'd go cooler and lighter...consider the light gray of the beadboard in the Gast pic above right. Beautiful hue. Don't go for the white white everyone clamors for these days.Too stark for your kitchen and too contrasty with the blue tile, too country kitchenish. #7. cabinet hardware: Look like glass knobs in pics. Go for knobs/pulls like in the Gast pic above--or similar in pewter or ss, my preference. Those "modern" ss bar handles don't work with your cabinets. #8 the round table is not a good fit against the wall. Get a small sq or rectangular ss or butcherblock-top table for that spot. Chop off the top tier of your chairs to shorten....and match their tops as they are now so's won't appear to take up so much visual space and still remain comfy--don't replace w/ uncomfortable stools.Keep white. #9. Do away with wood valance over sink window.Too country. #10 Countertops--solid color Corian type or laminate--depends on budget--don't want busy stone textures of quartz, etc. Consider a medium value cool gray. (Or maple butcherblock?). Can't see color/texture of floor.... hope some of this helps. Good luck! lisianthus' pic tho nice is too busy-cutesy for your minimalist aims IMO

aaah ! makes sense now - hey any one can grow parsley, basil or thyme ! you can buy them in pots in the supermarket when (and if) you kill them !!! my husband thinks I have green fingers because our herbs always look great !!! little does he know I replace them monthly !!! lol !! and a sprig looks great on tinned soup, that you can then claim you cooked from scratch too !!!

A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? We have recently restructured our existing cabinets to this layout and put in new countertops and it works far better than before!

How should I modernize this kitchen without spending a lot?

In a year or two, we would like to renovate the kitchen/dining/living areas so I do not want to put a lot of money into the space right now... However, until that reno time comes, I would like to make a few small changes that will help modernize the space and brighten it up a bit I'm torn on what to do in this kitchen... I was thinking about staining the cabinets darker, painting the back splash tiles white & painting the walls... however... I'm a complete newbie and I'm not confident in my decisions at all. Few things to note, that table will not be there - I'm planning on getting a high, thin bar table (wood and steel) that will go above the radiator w/ 2 bar stools. I really like dark rustic & industrial design. I also don't plan on changing the flooring until reno day so I'll have to work around that as well. Any advice would be much appreciated :) Thank you!

Sure, I do love a tall F/F. The only other option I could think of is to create a mini stud wall and have a built in f/f next to the sink.

Not sure of the knock on effect this will have on the lounge area and accessibility to the roof terrace.

What would happen to the roof terrace access if you added one here ? ( next to Dishwasher ) ... this seems the least invasive place - if you don’t mind lots of work there are other options -but starting with the simplest one !

interesting option. it shouldn't make access to the terrace too difficult, but will eat into the seating area/reception room (where I would like a lovely corner sofa). but maybe I need to rethink where that will go. Building a small wall out to house the F/F would make it look more connected to the kitchen space.

Estimated guess of measurements. When replacing the kitchen, from left towards right and up: Tall built in fridge freezer, 45 dishwasher, 45 sink, corner Lemans with 45 door, 60 drawers, 60 cooktop+oven, 60 drawers, filler cabinet. The tall unit would block some view into the kitchen, but it is for a good cause (and fortunately you have light coming from all corners).

Also use two heights upper units, so you'll gain an extra shelf on the sink side. Plain white will prevent it from looking odd. Lower units could be a different color (with white top?), whatever floats your boat.

And you could add storage under the eaves, but not deep enough for workspace, and it would be hindered by the dining table. Besides, the open floor adds to the feeling of space, so I personally would keep it open.
