How to decorate this family room

hi everyone. I have a pretty large downstairs bedroom which we want to make into the family/TV room and also have a sofa bed for guests (Covid permitting of course!). The room is 365cm from door to window and 352cm wide so we have plenty of space.
we have two small children so I wanted ideas for toy storage but I still want it to be presentable. Any ideas please shout

What do you think of this? I've used Ikea Besta units under the TV for toy storage, some open shelving for displaying children's artwork. A sofa bed and a wardrobe. Wall lights above the sofa bed, small tables that can be easily moved out of the way and a bouple of footstools/pouffes to put your feet up when watching TV or for extra seating...

love the Ikea aspect as I don't want to spent a fortune on this room. I think I'll probably skip the wardrobe and I had hoped for a corner sofa bed in that space. my door is further left than what you have here and opens tight against that left hand wall. Thank you for this it's a great starting point for me!

Actually neutral rooms are very classy :) And adding a hand-knotted New Zealand wool carpet such as the one I've pictured would add a lot of coziness and ground the space, while complementing your striped chair. Small accents of colour can be added in artwork and on new sofa cushions. The fireplace makes a bold statement in the room, which could be compromised by giving the walls equal weight with bold colour. I understand that this is your family room, where you will be relaxing at the end of a long day and watching television. Therefore a calm, relaxing (yes, neutral!) colour scheme will achieve that. The charcoal grey drapes I described above should have lining, and they will add to the warmth of the room at night so you're not looking at cold black glass that's reflecting the room back to you. The colour scheme you have now is actually very nice--it just needs punching up a little with additions such as I described.

We aren't ignoring you - sometimes it is just timing! We are still stuck in inches over here too, so takes a bit of time to convert. If you need play space and living and dining, then I'm going to suggest you need a built in banquette on the wall opposite the fireplace . . though I would sneak it to within 1600 meters of the island edge and run it for at least 1900 meters or so. That will allow you to place the table 2' / 640 closer to the wall opposite the storage and fire and give you a larger living space remaining . slide the dining closer to the island . . a lot closer. This suggestion came after I first attempted to parallel the dining table to the island and saw what space you have left. Your size dining table is assumed to be the one that is drawn. Or what you hope to have . . when you banquette and slide dining towards the kitchen, that might encourage you to shift the fireplace a bit closer to the top of the drawing . . so it was centered down where enjoying it might also afford a view. I also am unclear about where the front door is - if the top elevation is the glass wall system that will open all the way, you should place the single door that opens by itself on the left. Between the dining table and the glass wall is the area for a play space . . . near the out of doors but away from the kitchen.

How would you decorate this living room? It's 15ft wide by 23ft long so a good big room. There's a an arch into the kitchen and 2 small bedrooms off it. Double doors at the back & at the front. tv going on wall beside open arch stove in that corner also. I'm thinking of separating the room into two areas. L shaped couch around tv area & coffee table and armchair in the back corner for kind of reading area. Your help would be great!! Thanks

We have a room that's located between our TV room and dining room, all three connected with sliding doors. The middle room has no windows and has a piano but no other function. We are trying to figure out how to bring light in and make it more appealing by day

Happy that it helped you to form an idea of what you could do. Ikea has a great corner sofa bed too.
