Am in the throes of purchasing a studio basement flat in Brussels with a walled garden. Rising damp inside has been discovered!!! I have always thought rising damp is a very serious problem but my son seems to think it can easily be remedied? How, who? A reliable honest damp proof company? Or do I pull out of the project? Any advice greatly received. Have a video but no idea how to insert it.
hello, we had a similar problem with damp after buying a Brussels flat with basement bedrooms. after talking to a few places, we were most satisfied with the advice from the firm Batit. they were quick, affordable and a year later there is not a hint of damp. it can be cured!
Thanks for the recommendation in Brussels will check the company out. One more question did you have to change the kitchen, if so who did you use, also did you need a builder. Sorry two questions for you.
Batit (with a 't') - their site is Batitprotect.be. no we did not a separate builder, they did all the plaster work. We got a decorator later to repaint (treatment usually needs several months after for walls to dry out). Have not attacked the kitchen yet, but luckily is upstairs. Next year's project!
Wow, thanks for the Brussels info. I am impressed that there are people in Belgium looking at Houzz, plus I do speak both Dutch and French so don't have any problems except finding reliable people to help me so I appreciate your comments.
