Help. We are in the process of designing an extension that will be connected to our existing bungalow with a glass walkway. Existing bungalow will all be sleeping and bathrooms plus office and boot room so therefore leaving the 50m sq extension with vault ceiling for kitchen living dining. I really would like to find a way of zoning the space so the living part is cozy in the winter(we will not have a separate lounge) . I don’t really just want to start with kitchen at one end then dining then living - feels too predictable. Any ideas?? TIA
Vaulted ceiling over the 50sqm will not give you a cozy living room Will be more like an art gallery feel, watch out for acoustics, use plenty of furniture, paintings, rugs etc
If you could fit in a small snug elsewhere in old bungalow, it would be more cozy
Do you have a plan showing dimensions and windows etc plus the ceiling height?
You could add a fire and simply change curtains, cushions, rug, flowers etc from summer to winter. (Some people are even known to paint feature walls)
I also wondered if you could have a form of moveable bookcase that sits against the wall during the summer and then is moved to partly zone off the area in winter (I couldn’t find a great pic but you get the idea). I don’t have any pictures but my brother also has this really cool bookcase/storage walls from which sliding doors come out to create walls
