Wall colour advice

We’ve recently converted our garage so we have an open plan kitchen and living space. I’ve included the floor plan and kitchen drawings so you can get an idea of the space.

The kitchen will be navy blue base units, white wall units, white marble worktops and white tile splashback. We’ve also picked an oak herringbone floor (pics included).

We’ve got a mid grey sofa but will need to buy the rest of our furniture.

Really struggling with what colour to paint the walls.

I was thinking a navy blue wall in the new living space (the wall with 2 windows) to pull the kitchen through. Something like ‘immersed’ by crown. And maybe a light grey or greige on the other walls. Would this go?

Also quite like the idea of a herringbone dash wallpaper (like the pic) but not sure if it’s too much herringbone or will go with the kitchen.

Feeling lost! Any advice please?

We have a 19 month old so paint must be durable/wipeable.

I think the palest of grey would look good. Something neutral that doesn’t clash with the units. Little Green’s Gauze may be worth a look?

If you’ve got a nice view painting the window walls in a dark colour can frame it (Not expecting this view obviously 😂). The room is long as well so it should work well.

You're probably best posting again when people can see the undertone of the blue cabinets as not sure how accurate the render is (unless you have a sample?) and obviously add a pic of your sofa for the same reason

That is true alright, though even with a patterned carpet they usually keep a mat for people to wipe their feet on by the door, or if people like to remove boots or shoes when entering ( not that common here) but great idea. The trouble with the patterned carpet was if anything fell on the floor you could hardly find it !!

Has anyone used farrow & ball slipper satin with skimming stone & charleston grey? We are using skimming stone on perimeter units which is in L-shape and charleston grey on island with 'lagoon' silestone worktop in our new kitchen. House is a new build and very well lit, we have windows/sliding door on three sides of room. Apologies no photos as not installed yet. We have all lower units apart from two tall press areas to integrate fridge, cooker etc into and one wall hung press as didn't want to crowd wall. Also looking at wimborne white in F&B and Subtle in Colourtrend brand. Ideally would like a good neutral that would work throughout a large part of house if possible. Not too grey or cream. Hello Debbie, Why not give a company like Opopsi a call.. They may be able to print something bespoke for you.. They also do canvases or Mural type.. I have not used them as yet but I think they could help.. I would say no to borders and maybe consider a wallpaper idea.. I think they do that too! Maybe you could even consider a more bespoke arrangement rather than lots and lots of photo's some could be overlapped or semi transparent so you get the effect of double exposures but with different images.. So it's more creative than a tile effect.. .. : ))

Minnie, that’s a good idea about framing the windows. The long wall with the window on it has a view out to fields but the short wall windows look onto the street. Would you suggest painting both walls? I don’t have a sample of the kitchen but this is the pic of it which I think it’s quite accurate. This is a pic of our sofa.

Can't make our the plan, does your wall with kitchen units run right into the living room? Is there a room in the middle? What will the middle room be used for. The reason I ask is it looks like a long wall....from one end to the kitchen units.

The kitchen will be in the area to the right and run through to the middle part. It will stop in line with the cupboard in the middle of the room. The area to the left will be living room.

I’ve included a floorplan of the kitchen which might help to make more sense of it. The living space would run to the left of this.

It is a bit of strange shaped room but the best of what we could make of it.

Just seeing your kitchen plan..... if you ever was up at the sink, you've nowhere to stack dishes on the left to then wash and put to the right for draining?
