Tile pattern advice please.
Hi. Would love people’s opinion’s on herringbone or brick tile pattern? Shiny or Matt? Looking to create something similar in downstairs toilet & we differ on pattern style. Any suggestions greatly received. Thank you 🙏

3 years agoThanks A Gignac for your advice. We are going for the same porcelain tile we have in the kitchen. Would love to brave & go for the rose herringbone but my husband prefers white metro. The glazed subway tile sounds lovely that you have in your shower.

Comments (25)That is true alright, though even with a patterned carpet they usually keep a mat for people to wipe their feet on by the door, or if people like to remove boots or shoes when entering ( not that common here) but great idea. Comments (7)Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! Comments (12)Don't be swerved away from hand painted tiles! The best way to add colour and originality (I make hand painted tiles so I may be biased). I would take the tiles to just under the bottom shelf, and up to the hod. We have had tiles behind our cooker for 21 years, and we don't find the grout staying clean a problem. 3 years agoRound mirror over the sink would look very smart. Back to tiles, how about Zellige tiles? They have a pearly finish and come in lots of shades, including lovely soft whites. Or octagonal?

3 years agoYes Julia, I know it limits the space but we really wanted to create a wall hung & wall mounted taps. My head is scrambled deciding on stacked/herringbone style 🤯 I do love this style. Definitely think lighter walls as Sonia suggested will enhance the tile

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoThese tiles from Claybrook are the most stunning I've seen for al long time. The glaze is beautiful and breaks on the edge to reveal a darker hue underneath. I would have these with enormous warm grey porcelain floor tiles

3 years agoAny paint colour suggestions that would compliment these tiles. Claybrook have stunning tiles but can’t decide as I love all 3. Think the hexagon is jumping out at me. Wouldn’t have thought of hexagon until great suggestion from Sonia. I’ve got F&B samples of All white, strong white & Ammonite? Any help greatly appreciated 🙏🙏 definitely need a glass of red this eve 😂 my mind is puddled!

3 years agoHi looking for kitchen tile advice this time. I love Raku range suggested by Juliet & would love to create a splash back in the kitchen. Any suggestions on which colour & any particular pattern style. Our island is F&B Railings. I do like the dark Raku with this pattern but not too sure if the area big enough. As always any advice greatly received! 🙏

3 years agoLook at Mandarin Stone Hoxton range. They are similar in that the glaze is beautiful but totally different colours.
