Help making the most of space
Hi, hopig you can help.
Our second bedroom is used as a small office and contains a day bed.
We would like to add a wardrobe as well but wondered if anyone had any ideas in reorganising where the desk, for example, is.
Thinking of maybe a slightly larger one beneath the window, but concerned the monitor would block the light, (could have it off the side, though)
For reference the room is 345cm, (wall with window wall with door opposite) and 240cm, (desk and day-bed walls).
The desk is 120cm. Would like a longer one, but wouldn't really work if it stays where it is and we try and put a wardrobe next to it.

if it’s just a single could you run a corner desk off the wardrobe? sorry these are teenagers rooms but merge the pics together for layout!

Comments (16)Put in a few French drains where you dig a ditch and fill it with crushed rock to help the water drain. In low spots put in some drains [http://www.homedepot.com/p/Tuf-Tite-16-in-2-Hole-Drain-Sump-with-Grate-and-Seals-2HDS-4/203463511] with pipe running to the French drain. You might also need to bring in 10 yards of top soil along with some sand to raise your yard a bit as you're probably right at the water table level. We've had to do all this as we live in the Pacific Northwest in a reclaimed marsh [a nice word for a swamp] where we hit the water table if we dig down 3". We had to put down about 10 yards of top soil along with some sand to raise our back yard. We also dug a French drain along the back to connect to the associations drainage pipes through the neighborhood. My husband has put in at least 3 of the drains in strategic locations around the yard to help drain off the excess water. Our yard isn't perfect, but it isn't the swamp it was the first couple of years we were here. We have to apply moss killer every spring or it takes over the yard. My husband also puts down lime to soften the soil, and help the water drain easier. He and a friend rent an aerator every summer and do both our yards to help with the drainage as well....See MorePaint ideas living space
Comments (13)I'd paint white the TV wall in oder to make it visually higher and to hide the white color of the door, now the dark color under lines that it is rather low and different from two main doors color and height of third one. I like brown FP wall, it works good with sofas and will attract eyes visually raising the ceiling above TV furniture. And one more thing I'd think about: the 1-st photo shows that there are too much unconnected different heights (doors, mirror, TV furniture, FP wall, ceiling). Definitely some heights are needed to be connected. I'd put lower the mirror and the shelf above FP so that the TV furniture and the mirror up lines were the same height. Comments (5)If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!...See More

3 years agoWould you consider a chest of drawers rather than a wardrobe? They have lots of storage yet not as overwhelming as a wardrobe. When we stayed in a holiday let there was no wardrobe just a chest of drawers and a a hanging rack on the back of the door. I was horrified at first, but it worked. I think the desk would be great in front of the window 😊. I have this one by The Cotswold Co.
