Converting & extending garage

We are hoping to convert a double garage into an annex and connect it into the house with a small extension so we can be on hand for a relative. The single storey pitched roof garage is 34 sq m and would include a wheelchair friendly bedroom and lounge. The extension would be 22 sq m and would a small kitchen and shower room. What should our budget be for this please? We live in South Yorkshire. The garage has electric already. The site is relatively flat and there is an outside tap on the house, so no water connected in the garage.

No window treatments are going to give "total darkness" Anyone who sells you something and says it will is a liar. Even the best blackout shades installed with side channels will block (maybe) 90% of the light coming in a window. Call a local professional to come out to your home with samples to look at. Best options will probably be a double-cell honeycomb shade or a roller shade.

It feels bland because floors and walls are beige. (ish). If you want to make a statement about a room. contrasting shades work really well. You have spotlights so the south aspect is irrelevant. Put a dimmer on spots if not already there so you control the light and feel of a room. I presume the fire is staying there so that back wall would be perfect for TV to be put on/entertainment system. Corner couch facing tv wall with chaise lounge on fire side. Behind the corner or L shaped couch, table and chairs so the room is functional for entertaining also and the layout is proportional. The room also has a focal point (TV)

can that wall be remover between kitchen and table? if so could you put a narrow island in kitchen with a table/counter running off of it into current dining area. this would be alot narrower and allow for more storage unser the window plus open up ypur living space more. also furniture is very dark for a small space and table and chairs seem very big. could you paint ceiling white and light fixture a brighter colour.. all these things should make it seem bigger. the picture i have attached would be quitw narrow and just an idea i saw on houzz.

Hi there, I am starting to plan a renovation for my house. This is so far outside of my comfort zone, I already feel rather stressed just thinking about it. What is the best way to plan it & budget it? Are there any idiot renovation processes I can follow? Specifically I'm looking to do the following: - Convert attic - Re-do bathroom - Extend kitchen to meet dining room (there's a bit of a damp problem I think in the dining room walls) - Improve heating/insulation - Replace bay windows upstairs and downstairs - I'm not sure if the roof needs any work - Re-decorate whole place It's a mid-terrace house.
