Living Room layout help!
We have recently moved into a new house and I cannot work out the best layout for our living room, to get things off the wall.
Its fairly spacious but large windows (which now thankfully have blinds & curtains!), radiators and door means we cant quite get the layout right and aligned without chopping up the room.
We will build on furniture /decor, but the L shape sofa (sadly until kids are older and less grubby!) & tv unit will remain.
Any help or tips would be welcome!

3 years agoHi Becky, I have some possible layout ideas, as I am unsure of the room measurements some of the layouts my not be possible. You may notice I have added a chair/armchair, layout 5 is pretty much what you have now, by adding the chair brings the room together as (like you said) bringing it off the wall. Sometimes a room needs breaking up. Think flow, how much of the space you actually use and what furniture you use most, for example: access to the toy box will be essential but do you always need access to the dresser, in which case layout 6 may be better? Layout 3 doesn’t flow so well but it might work for you as it brings furniture off the walls while still being able to keep an eye on the kids playing in the corner. I hope these ideas help or create new ideas.

Comments (4)Put the tv in front of the rear windows. Put the 2 seater in the middle of the room facing tv near fireplace. Coffee table between tv and two seater. leave the 3 seater on the same wall but closer to pianos current position. Put piano in suggested position. As for the bay windows a nice small round table with two chairs. A place to sit and have a drink and listen to music and look out the window...adds intimacy....See MoreLiving room layout

3 years agoShauni, what fabulous suggestions! The only thing I would add is a rug to bring everything together. Not everyone likes a rug on a carpet, but I think it would fill that empty space. A coffee table or footstool in the middle of the seating would also be a lovely addition especially if they have storage.

if so, you could do this but pull the sofa away from everything a bit. I agree it’s missing the rug, chair etc
please IGNORE what I’ve used, I had to find things on the right angle to match the camera angle 😂 . I should also have made the rug a bit bigger looking at it!
