Bungalow Layout Ideas

Hi All,

Hope you’re well.

I am in the process on purchasing the attached layout bungalow.

Ideally I would like to keep it to three bedrooms without the need to extend currently. The bathroom / toilet will become one with the potential option of opening the kitchen up to have the kitchen / dining option.

I wondered if anyone else had any other ideas, my limited knowledge doesn't see any other combinations?

Hi Scott, I’ve drawn up an open plan living area and taken out the wall between the toilet and bathroom. I hope this suggestion is helpful.

Hi Shauni,

Thank you, this looks amazing and nice to see an idea come together.

With the 3rd bedroom, these are sliding doors, which open out onto the garden, currently the only way out except through the kitchen onto the shared driveway and through the back gate.

I also wondered about the porch, this currently is built PVC material and covers the window. Would there be a way to incorporate a proper porch (I’m guessing, making the window smaller?)

If you are going to do this - make sure the bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space etc - don't scrimp ! Ideally every woman wants at least double the wardrobe space she already has !! And a walk-in wardrobe / dressing room is something that would earn any developer brownie points !! So if you have the space ... Use it well !! Breakfast areas in morning sunshine work well and evening sun in the lounge is good - inside outside fireplaces can work really well and everybody needs storage for summer /winter stuff (ski /scuba /suitcases etc ) so worth adding in storage somewhere accessible (like utility room ) for that sort of gear too ! This is an awesome opportunity for you ! Have fun !!!

Take out sofa, use beanbags and those blow up seats for their friends. Coloured rugs for tumbling and crawling on. Supersoft teddy bear blankets so they can curl up. Add in one of those soft blanket boxes for toy storage and so you have somewhere soft to perch when you are with them. Paper half way up the wall in the wall paper that kids can draw on, so they can decorate in whatever colour they like and you won't mind. A childs lift up desk, bookcase and some crazy lamps in weird colours. Then close the door, collapse on the sofa that you have moved, breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars that you have another room for the kids to go to. (Grab wine and pretend they aren't yours for half an hour! ;-) )

Need advice re extension to bungalow

Thanks Jonathandb1972. That looks like a lovely layout I really like the open plan but our driveway around the house will come from the left side so that's why we had thought of addiing the extension to the right. I'm sure we could use your idea on the right side and it would still throw in plenty of light. Regarding the rooms: the long room to the right is the current kitchen which is currently very dark and cold, the small room behind this is the utility, the two rooms to the left of this are a front living room and back lounge. The rooms left of this are 4 bedrooms a bathroom, hotpress and outside toilet. Thanks again for all your suggestions.

I have rearranged everything so that there is an open plan living space opening out to the garden,I have added windows too, not sure if this plan will be feasible though but it might spark new ideas.
