I’m now the proud new owner of an old manse house, originally built next to the church in 1867. I’d like to understand a little more about the construction of the property (purely out of interest) but I’m a little confused!
The brickwork on the outside walls is a light tan, whereas the internal brickwork (including the inside of external walls) is red brick (I’ve determined this from chiselling out a small section of lime render inside the building and from the cellar.
Does anybody know what they call this style of construction? The nearest construction type I found on googled is a construction called ashlar (photo attached) but I think this applies more to stone.
I’ve included some photographs to help.
