Removing a scratch from engineered oak flooring

I have an unfortunately really visible scratch which I would like to try and remove/disguise. It's only the one scratch - which goes horizontally across several boards. Floor is recently installed engineered oak. I have attached a photo which hopefully helps. The dark patch to the left is natural grain. The scratch is approximately 1-2mm deep. It does go into the wood, as there's a clear depth change when feeling it.

I tried Briwax filler sticks (light). The colour matches well. And I can hide the scratch with it quite effectively. But it then looks super reflective/waxy where the scratch was - which draws more attention to the scratch. So I removed that. Is there anyway of removing that waxy finish if using these sorts of filler sticks?

Any suggestions how else I could remove it?

But had to give them a light rub down, the wax, rub down again. It will never put the boards back to pre-scratch sorry to say. But yours looks a lot more forgiving on light boards (vs o it dark boards!)

I have to join this discussion of Hardwood in the kitchen. I am a little biased in this discussion because of being a tile contractor for almost 30 years. I have seen alot of hardwood kitchen floors. I have to give you the cons of putting hardwood in. Hardwood floors look great. As far as durability I am not sold. Hardwood floors look great when they are first put in. Depending on the traffic in the kitchen I give them about 4 to 5 years is when you see significant wear. I have seen alot of hardwood floors in kitchens with water damage. Now I know you think you wont have a leak from your dishwasher, refrigerator or a general plumbing leak. Well these things do happen and when it does the hardwood needs to be totally removed. Some times this is not so easy if the hardwood goes under the base cabinets. I am not saying do not put hardwood in the kitchen I think you should look at whats going to work for you. There are plenty of porcelain tiles that will give you the look of hardwood but give you the durability of a porcelain tile. Tile installed properly will last a long time. Hardwood will last but it will look warn to the point that it would need to be refinished at a cost around $2000.00 depending on the size of the room. I don't want to upset the hardwood floor lovers I have it all over my house except the bathrooms and kitchen. The floor is 20 years old 4 kids 2 dogs and still looks great. I am sure what ever you choose it will look great.

Take out sofa, use beanbags and those blow up seats for their friends. Coloured rugs for tumbling and crawling on. Supersoft teddy bear blankets so they can curl up. Add in one of those soft blanket boxes for toy storage and so you have somewhere soft to perch when you are with them. Paper half way up the wall in the wall paper that kids can draw on, so they can decorate in whatever colour they like and you won't mind. A childs lift up desk, bookcase and some crazy lamps in weird colours. Then close the door, collapse on the sofa that you have moved, breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars that you have another room for the kids to go to. (Grab wine and pretend they aren't yours for half an hour! ;-) )

Lovely, much better than the 3D plan. V glad you kept your patterned floor tiles, I really like them. It's all come together very attractively. The only thing I'd change and this is just because I'm a colour freak is the pendants - I'd probably have made those red and orange or something. But congrats really, it looks great.

I assume you meant "floor". Tiles are usually considered the safer option in areas that have potential for spills or floods. Do you have heavy traffic (shoes worn in house, animals, children, etc) in these areas? If so, then you will have to worry about scratches in the wood and the occasional sanding/refinishing of the floor. You will definitely want the underfloor heating if you live in an area that gets cold. It is a personal choice, as I put wood in my kitchen/sitting room, because I love the warm look and feel of wood. However, I constantly worry about the scratches from the chairs and stools. We don't wear shoes in the house, nor do we have any animals, but I have had to put felt pads on all of the legs of the furniture.

I guess the only other thing is to consider a rug, mat or runner, or furniture placement if it’s really bothering you. But to me it looks so minimal

Thanks for your suggestions. Ended up going for a hallway runner... I tried again with the wax sticks and just couldn't get the glossiness/finish to match.

Although fiddly a good joiner can cut out damaged boards and replace them.
