Need help with living room furniture choices
Comments (39)Latest update! Made a few changes to the book cabinet to the left of the fireplace. Added chrome legs to match the legs on the tv cabinet and added doors to the top half to try to make it look less cluttered. The lighting in the photos isn't great but hopefully you get the idea.Am quite pleased with the result. Am still trying to decide on art for over the fireplace, keep changing my mind but considering getting this canvas (see picture)....See MoreNavy and gold hieroglyphic fabric on large corner sofa...
Comments (9)At the moment all your stuff is concentrated at one side of he room making it cluttered and bare at the same time. Pictures need to go at eye height, so maybe get a simple shelf built above the sofa at eye height for some knick knacks. Somehow your pictures seem very high up on the wall. You could cluster them together above the sofa maybe? You can still have your mantel but with maybe a better-selected range of bits on it. Agree that some shelving might be good in the alcoves but not above the line of the top of those pictures. I would have gone for a much darker colour for the walls (like navy blue) because the sofa would have blended in a bit more and it would look luxurious against the dark background. Plus dark colours give your stuff an instant quality upgrade. (I always say it makes my sh*t look like stuff) Sorry that's unhelpful as you've obviously made those decisions!!...See MoreHow to make this awkward wall works better
Comments (10)If you don't want to make the wall itself straight, maybe consider playing with some deep shelves ABOVE the TV, that could go from the diagonal wall to the straight line where you want to put the TV. Then behind the TV you could have a vertical panel of the same colour/material of the shelves (or matching the colour of the wall) to connect the TV stand to the first shelf and hide the awkward wall. To avoid having empty space right beside the door you could put a narrow shelving unit (with a back panel, not an open one) between the TV stand/panel and the straight wall (or beside it if it's short) that goes from floor to first shelf, again I'm imagining same colour/material of the rest so it binds seamlessly rather than looking like patchwork to fill the space. It's a little complicated to explain but I hope it makes sense!...See MoreNarrow living space
Comments (1)can that wall be remover between kitchen and table? if so could you put a narrow island in kitchen with a table/counter running off of it into current dining area. this would be alot narrower and allow for more storage unser the window plus open up ypur living space more. also furniture is very dark for a small space and table and chairs seem very big. could you paint ceiling white and light fixture a brighter colour.. all these things should make it seem bigger. the picture i have attached would be quitw narrow and just an idea i saw on houzz....See MoreLuke Ryder
