Weird Shaped Bedroom

Hi all,

I have 6 walls in my bedroom! Basically it has an angle bay so to speak. Its not huge and we want to put built-in wardrobes to one wall and our bed with bedside tables on another at least.

I need help in implementing the best layout as once the builtin wardrobes are in, that it...

Firstly, get matching beds and put them end to end so the 6month old is closer to the door for checking on in the night. If you need a changing unit in the room then it could slot between the beds. I'd like to see pics of the wardrobe and the radiator wall. I'm imagining it is probably in an awkward place like smack in the middle of the wall ; D. How about getting a radiator cover and then above that making a shallow bookshelf for their smaller books, special toys and a few photos. Then I'd have matching wardrobes either side to store everything else! Décor - not sure if you're thinking that far ahead yet but I'd paint all the walls white to keep the timber from looking too yellowy (I doubt you've got time to be painting furniture!) get matching bedding for both beds, a wall decal (inexpensive and easy to change as they get older or if you sell the house) in pink, a basic white drum shade for the light (IKEA) and a set of pink or white eyelet curtains and pink tiebacks. Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme.

Awkward bedroom room shape

My 16 year old daughters bedroom urgently needs a makeover, but it's an awkward shape. She is arty, so hoards everything. She loves to read, needs space for 2nd bed (pullout or fold up) and a study desk. Style wise, she loves the loft look, but I'm really struggling with a layout. I would appreciate any ideas. Not much difference in mattress height (thickness) apparently between regular traditional spring and a foam mattress. It turns out foams can be made in different densities to cater for everyone's needs. Softer for more cushioning and firmer for more support. Looks like it basically comes down to personal preference. Found a comprehensive guide here mattress thickness. Basically, the recommended range is 8-12 inches thick. We'll probably just go for something that falls down the middle of this range. If you're looking into getting a foam mattress, we'll let you know how it works out. Now, on with the bedroom renovation.
