With the Green Homes Grant I was wondering is underfloor insulation for suspended floors worth doing for a 1930s semi and will it make much of a difference? many thanks Colin
We have underfloor insulation in all but one room of our bungalow & it does make a difference in the winter. That room is noticeably colder in the mornings.
ufh works well with a well insulated home. I take it you are talking a wet ufh system as opposed to electrical which is costly to run.
in an upper flow as long as you ensure their is a reflected member beneath or with plates to direct heat evenly you will find a better level of comfort. the heat is evenly distributed in the room and as a result thr levels to you will feel better. it operates at a lower temperature so costs less to operate .
if you dont have double glazing or treble glazing then ensure that you insulate windows from draughts that a tradituinal radiator under a window helps to alleviate the effects.
overall you will find it great and of course you get back wall space and avoid having window treatments from blocking heat as in the traditional radiator approach.
