Bedrooms Design Dilemma Renovating

Reconfigure bedroom?

Hello! Trying to think of ways to make this bedroom larger. Its quite cramped in there with the built in wardrobes. Was thinking of cutting out bathroom part where shower currently is to add more square footage to bedroom but any other clever ideas would be welcome!

HI -- gross635 -- Your right to some degree but you can't move the main floor bath to the other side because then that interfers with the floor plan on the second floor. Would not work . I would have loved to turn the whole plan around but it won't work in this case. Added note to what I posted before is to get rid of anywalls you don't need and also not every room has to have a door. Like the one on the lounge and the one at the end of the hall. I would open the lounge up by not having the walls on the entrance hall . As for a closet , there is space in front of the set back powder room for some coat hooks etc. I also question the fact of , if the lounge is really needed. Everything could have been shifted to the front and the kitchen set back , then that would have made a larger dining/familyroom area . But that would have ruined the resale value . So I think moving the bathrooms was the lest and best for this plan. One question I have , is this an English plan ?, because the English love putting doors on every room ?And usually the doors swing the wrong way.

About your plumber saying "plumb layout is confirmed". That is a load of rubbish. It's fairly easy to move drains around (yes he might have to rip up some walls, but he can also do off-the-wall installations to avoid that). In a small bath proper placement is of the utmost importance!!! If you have the bathtub and shower next to each other that will be much better and then the glass separator idea should work. padmaramachandran's (see post above) setup sounds more reasonable to me as well (see first picture below). This is similar to your setup but as you have more space you could put in bath tub and shower where the picture only shows a bath tub. Also if you do it that way you could theoretically have a bidet or a wider wash basin (small double perhaps too). Example layout: Do you need a bathtub in the guest bath? If not you have a lot more room to work with. E.g. for a double wash basin and large walking shower and a bidet (2nd picture). Example of off-the-wall installation for toilet and bidet and a large walking shower. Finally if you ignore this advice and do it the way you planned ;) then I suggest you really thing about that glass separator. Doing it right will make a lot of difference (see 3rd picture). We live in a 4 bed semi. We are toying with moving to a bigger better layout house in the same estate or reconfigure/extend our current house. We are content with downstairs but upstairs we’re not happy with. Myself and husband are in the master and have a small en-suite, our 2 boys share bedroom 2, the main family bathroom is too small and I use bedroom 3 as a dressing room. Bedroom 4 on the 2nd floor is a guest room and office and it has a good size en-suite. I’ve attached current layout. We don’t have much room to do a side extension so we’d have to do a rear extension. Our wish list: master suite with a large en-suite including bath and a walk in wardrobe. Bedroom each for the boys with shared en-suite. 4th bedroom and en-suite for guests and office Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance 😃

Yes the current kitchen is half a floor down from the main bedroom and I would be happy for one of the boys to be there. I thought if we had the master bedroom at the front of the house and the room beside it as a bathroom and walk in wardrobe that would work well? I'm happy for the master bedroom not to be huge and to keep just the bed and bedside lockers in there if we can conceal all the clothes etc in the walk in wardrobe
