Upstairs bedroom layout dilemma!!

Hi everyone, how would you fix this layout without an extension? Bedroom 3/4 used to be 1 room but now has a stud wall between. We could knock it back down but ideally I’d like to keep it as 4 bedrooms (need 1 for a study). Would like 3 double rooms and 1 study. We need wardrobe space too. Is this achievable with this space? How would you do it to make the most out of it?

Is this any help at all ?? Not sure which room you usually use as study. Blue lines indicate stud walls.

Thanks I hadn’t considered putting the wardrobe on that wall of bedroom 1. Assuming the bed can then go on the other wall? Would that be enough for king size bed and bedside tables??

I think introducing an angled wall will not give you anything other than something a bit different. We have this in our house and it is difficult re positioning of furniture etc. You are also limiting what you can do it the kitchen, ie removing a wall of presses or increasing the cost of having custom made to fit! You have lots of space so I would leave that as it is. I dont know if you have kids, but think about how you will use this open plan space as they get older and you need more privacy! In relation to upstairs I like the idea of the Jack and jill but prefer the layout of the master bedrooms in the original. That is a really big dressing room compared to the size of the bedroom, but if this is what you wanted go for it!

I personally think an en-suite would be more practical and will add value than a dedicated office. Could you fit the washing machine under the stairs. You have ample room in the kitchen to have an office area by the small window.

Great idea for bedroom 3! Hadn’t considered putting the wardrobe the other way. And bedroom 4 is the one we’d use as study

Also, is it possible to move the door way forward as the stairs are like this, so would we love the banister?

Yes would be plenty of room for bed & side tables. You may not want to put wardrobe in bed 4 then but just an idea. Alternatively you could have 2 wardrobes off bed 3 depending on what space you need. Will make study smaller but again really depends on how your using.

Thanks Annabella. I think we really just need 3 double bedrooms (1 for us, 1 for our son who is 1 at the mo but just for him to grow into and 1 for guest and then an office). Did you see the picture of the stairs? Hoping this won’t cause any issues to make a new doorway

Yes its possible but you would lose the bannister. It would depend on what extra room you need in bed 1. Sometimes its useful to mark out where the furniture would go with masking tape on the floor.
