How long does unopened paint last

I bought almost £300 worth of Little Greene paint in February intending to repaint kitchen & utility room cabinets and walls in March. For a variety of reasons including the pandemic I have been unable to do so. The paint has not been opened. How long will it still be usable?

Unopened I would say a couple years surely!! If opened, then thats perhaps not the case.

Latest update! Made a few changes to the book cabinet to the left of the fireplace. Added chrome legs to match the legs on the tv cabinet and added doors to the top half to try to make it look less cluttered. The lighting in the photos isn't great but hopefully you get the idea.Am quite pleased with the result. Am still trying to decide on art for over the fireplace, keep changing my mind but considering getting this canvas (see picture).

Hello nicnoll, Another idea could be to have a wall light that is all about the bulb! A few links to both ideas.... Copper is good too... One other idea... have a rose with multi flex wires... centralised where the current one is.. Then choosing cable/flex and lengths.. run them along to where you want.. either along ceiling.. in loops with hooks to loop round and fix position, so then excess becomes a drop pendant to add something lovely.... Or you run them in loops across the ceiling to the opposite wall and have a wall light fitting but the electric cable comes from the one ceiling point. So less to do wiring wise.. Should last a couple of years but in time it does break down and separate.

It should last a couple of years at least. Once opened it seems to go off faster- if you can get the lid back on properly store it upside down and if any skin forms on the paint (like it does on custard) then it will be at the bottom of the tin and the fresh paint on the top

Hi @ebony45,

As Daisy mentioned it will last but will separate.

What hasn't been said here is --> how to store it. In dry and dark place where temp doesn't go above 25 and below 10 degrees.

Thanks everyone for your advice, the paint has never been opened so it should be okay for a while longer. Hopefully I will be able to make a start in the foreseeable future
