I am changing from cast iron gas hob to an induction hob shortly and am very nervous of scratching the new surface. Someone mentioned that I should change all my pans, even if they are suitable for induction, as they will have rough bases from being used on the gas hob. What are other people’s experience please?
I have a five year old induction hob. I didn’t change my pans although I always scrubbed off any gas scorching on the bottom to maintain their looks. Five years on (and I haven’t been particularly careful) the hob has very minor scratches that can only be seen in certain lights. So I say try not to worry too much- it will be fit for purpose.
I wish I had an answer to this one. I originally had an AEG induction hob. Had it for 9 years, loved it, didn’t have any scratches whatsoever on it and then it went bang.
Replaced it with a Bosch which is currently around 4 years old and has several annoying scratches on the glass which I’ve been unable to get rid of.
I just wish I knew where they come from.
I would just ensure the magnetic bottoms are clean and use them.
