Built in wardrobe
We have taken out the old built in wardrobe which was running along the left hand side wall towards to door. It wasn't nice to look at as you walked in and made the room feel very small. We’re planning on building 2 wardrobes either side of the chimney breast between the bed. However, this will mean that we won’t be able to fit in bedside cabinets which we like having.
Would you do away with the bedside cabinets and make do and have bigger wardrobes or would you make The wardrobes smaller to squeeze in the cabinets? If we make the wardrobes smaller, my husband‘s clothes would have to stay in the landing cupboard 😂 any thoughts welcome. Excuse the mess, we’re halfway through ripping it out!

Comments (14)Prior to adding any trims to the door, use a small piece of trim, attach it to the door with double stick tape on the hinge side and check to see that the door opens. It might not! Attaching trim to the door is more than just cutting the trim, no? Currently one wall has built-in wardrobes in Mahogany which I want to paint in a soft grey together with bedside lockers and dressing table. I would like one feature wall behind the bed head (bed head is a classic brass design which I want to retain unchanged) I was thinking of a wallpaper in possibly an aubergine colour; or maybe I should wallpaper the other two walls in aubergine and do something else behind the bed..... 3 years agoPeckadoodle, no, not that, but that could work! What I meant was something like this, which is a front view of wardrobe with doors open. The niche would be closed from the front, ie no access from inside the wardrobe, but open to the side by the bed. It could have a light inside it. Have not drawn it to any sort of scale, just to illustrate the idea. Saw something similar on Houzz somewhere a while ago.
The wardrobe doors would just look like a normal wardrobe.
(Just as a comment, I love the idea if lights inside wardrobes too, wish I had them.)
