Has anyone used resin for their patio (as opposed to its usual use as a drive topping)? As we're in the 70+ age bracket (!) we thought it might be good; it's flat and allows water to drain through, so no standing puddles and no wobbly slabs or edges to trip over. Might look pretty if we edge it with brick/stone?
My sister has just had her drive done in gravel resin edged with pavers. It looks and feels amazing and it is permeable, as you say. I think it would make an great patio. It also feels “bouncy”! The biggest problem is finding someone to lay it properly. There are a lot of cowboys about! She used a landscaper called Orangescapes and they cover Herts and Beds. Here’s some pictures of it as a patio.
Hi, saw my sister today who has the resin drive. She said it can get a bit slippery in wet weather so just to let you know. An alternative would be sandstone or outdoor grade porcelain which as pretty non slip.
Porcelain would be easier to maintain and is going to be cheaper that resin to install.
If laid correctly there should be no issues with drainage and it won't discolour like resin can over a period of time (unless you keep it pressure washed on a regular basis) as the porous nature collects all the dust and dirt and then algae can start to develop, then slippery,
