Weathered Oak Stair Treads Opinion

I am having an open tread staircase built for my house with thick oak treads: 250mm x 125mm x 1000 long.

I quite like the silvery-grey look of air dried weathered oak - similar to the picture. I think it could make quite a feature in a new build house - but aware its potentailly a novel idea.

Has any one had any experience doing this? Or seen it done? etc

Any advice, comments or pictures appreciated.

Even though it has been air dried you will get a lot of shrinkage with it. It will give character but you will need to be able to tighten up any fixings as it shrinks.

(Asked hubby for you who is a bespoke joiner of 50 years and specialises in stairs).
