Kitchen Sink query
I’m swapping my worktops from a standard laminate to Mirostone Solid Surface in Taj Mahal. I currently have a stainless steel sink and was going to opt for an undermount stainless steel sink but am now wondering about a white ceramic.
I’ve previously had composite and don’t want another. Happy with stainless steel although I’ve found it does show the scratches up. I’m rather concerned that coffee and tea dregs would stain it and I’d end up scrubbing or pouring bleach down it to remove any stains.
The advantage would be that because the worktop has a white background a ceramic sink would blend in better.
What are people’s experiences and thoughts on ceramic?

3 years agoDaisy I don’t know if you remember my previous posts on sinks and worktops? I think I’m going to go with Quartz worktop (gulp ££££) but I’m still dithering over the sink. I have a white ceramic sink which is now 10 years old. It hasn’t aged well. Firstly, the plug started leaking, draining out the water. We bought a replacement and that leaks too. Because of this we’ve had to use a washing up bowl (hate them!) which has added to the scratches at the bottom. Even after a good scrub with bleach it looks a mess. That’s my experience, but they do look lovely when new! I think I’ll go for under mounted stainless next time. Here’s a pic of mine now.

Comments (7)This is a very small and dark kitchen I would defo change the colour of the units to an antique cream and the worktop a darker colour maybe walnut and paint those double doors and the window sill white to match the other wood work also get a smaller round table it would give you more floor space the chairs you have would still work and maybe add some splashes of acidy colours lime green/orange or yellows not too much just a few touches. also Jacksplash is correct about the blind if you are keeping a blind go for a straight edge one. if your budget allows I would also change the sink to a white sink it really reflex light from the window and brightens the room I did something the same with my own sink it doesn't have to be a Belfast sink you can get the same sink as you already have in white ceramic....See MoreTo place a kitchen sink at a window sill that is lower

Comments (0)Hi All, Hoping to build a new house this year and to me the Kitchen is the most important part.I spend all my time there and love cooking. I've always dreamed of having a pantry that i could just walk into and see all my ingredients so that was a must. All the kitchens I've seen have lots of cabinets but i always end up taking everything out and leaving it on a counter so I want my kitchen to appear clutterless and have all my bits and pieces on show in the hidden pantry! I also wanted an island with a sink and dishwasher in it so when i was cleaning i could have full view of the kitchen and nowhere near the backdoor traffic! I don't mind my hob being against a wall as I find most my time is spent on prep beside a sink! I also wanted stools at a heightened part of that island so others could sit and talk to me but not be on the same level. However now I'm worried that I won't have room for a large fridge and freezer which is important as its a rural location so I'll be stocking food. Also was hoping to get advice on how to select a kitchen supplier? Any ideas are welcome as I'm still in the planning process and want to have all my plumbing and electrical points in place when i go to builders and tradesmen!...See MoreDaisy England
