What can we do while we wait for architectural drawings and tender?

Hi,

We are about to renovate our newly purchased house where in we want to:

- add an extension

- add a loft room

- redo kitchen and all bathrooms

- install underfloor heating

- make living area open plan

Our architects will take about a month to produce all the drawings and another month to do the tender process to identify builders. We are renting at the moment and time is money to us. Any suggestions on what we can do to progress while we wait two months to find a builder? The main motivation is to save the rent money by moving fast. Things that I can think of are:

- getting some basic demolition such as removing current kitchen/bathroom fixtures/carpets etc.

- moving the boiler to new location

- moving the electricity meter to new location

But I am not sure whether it will be cheaper to do it now vs as a total package with the builder who will do all the other work. Any suggestions will be welcome.
