We have recently moved into our new house and need to get all of our windows (which are timber) replaced as the frames are rotting and in poor condition through years of neglect. We have decided to go with either aluminium or uPVC windows mainly due to cost and maintenance reasons. We have only started looking at aluminium options and came across Velfac but haven't had much luck sourcing a reliable approved installer. I'd be interested to hear from others who have gone through the same decision-making process and good/bad experiences with any particular window suppliers and installers. Most of the uPVC windows that we have seen are chunky and have unsightly joins. We are based in West London. Many thanks in advance.
I’ve changed several of my windows to upvc as the old ones were draughty and had had it. Upvc is chunky but the lack of maintenance is a real bonus and the new ones are cosy and draft free. They are also competitively priced . If you go for a dark colour they don’t look quite so chunky. We used a family run company called Globe Home Improvements based in Beds. Their after service is superb. One of the handles was stuck closed, they came round the next day and replaced it FOC. Phil is amazing!
They used to be very traditional but they are doing many more coloured frames now as well as aluminium. Have a look at their website www.globehomeimprovements.co.uk. They also have an office in London.
