We recently bought a 1930's which needs a bit of interior love. What is your advice on keeping vs removing the paneling, and if we keep it what colour would work best to break up the paneling from the wall? I initially thought about painting the paneling and stairwell a grey colour with light walls but I'm worried it will make the hallway/stairs too dark. Likely to remove picture rails. We will also be taking the carpet up (yet to determine what to replace it with). I've attached a picture of our lounge which we have made a start on to give you an idea of what we like. Any advice welcome!
