Building a Home Flooring

polished concrete flooring ?

Hi all - busy renovating ground floor of property - the space is about 45sq/m and will include open plan kitchen diner tv room space, can’t decide on flooring option and for some reason i think polished concrete is the way forward - any experiences with this floor type? Will have underfloor heating as well.

If the grout was supposed to be white but has come out grey then there is either an issue with the grout or this is as I described before. I certainly wouldn't use a grout pen until you have looked at cleaning the residue from it. If this is polymer residue then the grout pen would only stick to this so would probably wear off and become patchy. If there is an issue with the grout then you should speak to the manufacturer, this does happen on occasions and they will check it if they are a reputable company. Who was the grout manufacturer? Email Ceramica is the group of companies which Viva belongs to. So I suspect that this is the tile I mentioned. I know the tile as we sell it, the tile is very good quality. Speaking as a tiler with 18 years experience if the grout was grey and has come out white then it can only be the issues I have described. Cleaning should definitely be your first option.

A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.

hi there looking for advice for new kitchen floor 70s bungalow refurb - large open plan kitchen / living room - house is built on concrete slab and architect has included lots of large windows as kitchen end is south / southwest facing. read that dark colour in either polished concrete or natural stone carpet would gain most thermal mass gain energy wise (other than dark tiles which we want to stay away from) any thoughts advice would be appreciated! thanks

Hello, I'd love to get opinions on having a polished concrete floor in the living room? I would soften the room with a large rug and pops of bold colour. I love the industrial look, peppered with mid century style furniture (doubtful if I will be able to afford it, but that's the vision at the moment!). The plan would be to have the same floor finish in the kitchen which is a separate room but can flow into the living room if the sliding door is pulled back. Photos would be amazing.
