Comments (4)It seems that the objections of noise can be addressed with sound proofing in the area, and that precautions can be taken to minimize the damage of a possible leak. Why not ask the architect how to address all the concerns and see how much it will cost? This way you are making an informed decision rather not doing it because others think it is crazy. We have one in our kitchen and to address the noise and vibration, we reinforced the floor with a small concrete slab and bought a very quiet model of washer and dryer. And, you can always install an easy shutoff valve to turn off the water if you aren't using the washer. Good luck, and having the washer where you want it is not crazy!...See MoreMoving home for two disabled women
Comments (35)not alot happening at the moment, its winter! alotta rain, lotta. but i am bedding down to get this over with and maybe in the spring the spirits will rise once more. i hope so. i would love to feel i was doing something to keep my hopes and dreams alive, i dont see what i can do until the spring. when i bring the topic up, especially to those that moved away and came down this neck of the woods, they say they had friends who felt it was too far too and moved back home. i guess thats how i feel, thats what i want and i just want to be a bit more uplifted, i think rain dampens down things a bit!!! santa Ma Margaret!...See MoreAttic Conversion with no windows
Comments (8)I too, am wondering why you were refused velux windows? Here in Scotland you are not allowed to convert an attic room to "livable space" - that is any room, other than a store room, without an escape window of a certain size, velux or other, due to fire regulations. Not sure where you live - in the UK? and what your regs would be? Again, I don't think you are allowed to open up a kitchen ceiling due to fire regs, this would obviously be a real danger in case of fire, when it would sweep upwards very quickly if a section was open. You obviously need to consult a surveyor or building engineer as a first step. If not done the right way, it can cause havoc when you come to sell, or even worse, if there ever were a fire....See More- 4 years ago
