Panelling will add an authentic yet more traditional character and soften the room, wallpaper will add a quality yet less authentic finish. A photograph or even better, a piece of art tying in the black will make the room cohesive and more homely. Mustard will give the room a sharper, cheerier finish than taupe and I recommend using the mustard sparingly in accessories for example and not on the walls unless in a small section of pattern or the likes.
Other ideas to soften include plants and window dressings.

There are many ways to decor shower room with some accessories.
1. Space and layout - Keep the layout, design and the style of your bathroom in mind before you start working on the probable list of accessories for your space.
For example, a bathroom with enough storage provision won't need extra accessories like bowls, baskets, shelves or racks.
2. Toothbrush/Toothpaste Holder - Introduce a cool toothbrush/toothpaste holder in your bathroom space.
Lovely shower! My advice for bathrooms is to treat them as you would any other room in the house! Bathrooms do need to be functional but they do not need to be like operating theaters.
For example try adding some colour and texture with an area rug - yes I did just suggest a rug for the bathroom! A small bath mat can always be at hand for when you step out of the shower to collect the drips and can then be hung back over the towel rail.
I notice that you don't have any window dressing at the moment - that would be a fab place to start. It will soften those hard edges and instantly make the room feel more, well like a room.
And as Ellen mentioned above, plants, get some greenery in there to add shape and texture and of course naturally filter the air for you too.

hello all thanks so much for your comments!! I have seen this fabric from designers guild and wondered whether this could work but wasnt sure if it needs to be something different to the shower screen pattern?
then I wondered about pannelling halfway up and a nice picture but maybe that's too clinical...and maybe dont need a picture I love this kind of photo but not sure it will work in this room?
Those ideas will all combine well, I say go for it if you think it suits the house and your taste.
I like to use a local framer to select the right size mount and a complimentary frame. It is an enjoyable process and ensures that you get the attention to detail. Also when utilising black it may be a good idea to get a special glass to avoid reflection.
Look forwards to seeing your results :D

You have really good taste. Your bathroom is beautiful and I would say yes to the fabric as a blind and the picture has some gorgeous subtle shades which will go well. King & McGaw do lovely artwork from modern through to classic and Etsy are great for something a bit different. I also thought black towels would look rather striking? 😊
