what colour should I paint my coffee table?
Looking for suggestions for what colour to paint my coffee table (please excuse the messiness!) I’ve also taken a photo across the room into the kitchen to give an idea of the overall space.
The way the coffee table looks right now - I’ve just painted it with a white wood primer after having sanded off some very dark wood stain that I had painted it with before that looked awful and you could see every speck of dust on the table when we had it that way. Originally the table was a light oak colour similar to the floor - however it was stained and marked. Hence the beginnings of this project!

Comments (20)HI -- Well the wallpaper was just done so there is no changing that , soooo I think you should paint the rest of that wall the same white as the white background of the wallpaper and paint fireplace mantel too. Then have two small matching cabinets painted the blue from the paper or the leaf color placed on each side of the fireplace. . Then have white or glass shelves above , maybe three is best . Now the rest of the room painted the exact color of your sofa . Because the room looks small I think it would look best to have the sofa blend into the walls color wise. Now just keep some of your room accents in the blue color but not too much. Remember not to clutter the shelves and if you don't want the shelves then have a large painting on each side and have a big round mirror over the mantel and keep the small items off the mantel and onto the side cabinets ....See Morewhat colour to paint wall around presses
Comments (2)I think the heather and sage tones will work well together. Putting rugs under dining tables isn't that practical for clearing up if you have kids or grand kids. Comments (0)We just bought a bungalow and are doing some redecorating before we move in. It is an old house with a narrow hallway and small rooms so we want to keep it as light and airy feeling as possible. We are putting in new doors, architrave, skirting, etc. and painting these white. However all of the windows (which we aren't changing as they are quite new) are a dark wood - almost a walnut colour. My question is what colour should I varnish the door saddles? I would prefer to varnish rather than paint these, but don't want to go too dark. How many wood colours is ok in a house, e.g. should we varnish the saddles to an oak colour and stick with this for the furniture? Comments (8)I think lovely opportunity to move couch onto wall opposite armchairs move all seating in away from walls (would probably change in time type seating as too large for room ) allowing circulation with coffee table in the middle. This then opens up wall that couch on now for a unit with open shelving housing the TV there as some gorgeous examples of these & can add colour .
