I want to replace a carpeted floor in a bathroom with a hard surface. I'm on a budget, though, and was planning to lay tiles (or whatever) myself). I'm good at tiling but the problem here is what to do around the loo and pedestal basin. A professional would lift and lay tiles underneath but I'm not a plumber and can't do that. Every source suggests that the floor will look 'messy' if I try to tile around the objects but is it really that noticeable? Has anyone else done this, to good effect? Thank you.
