Rug under barstools?

Finally got round to ordering a few stools, only just 6 months after the kitchen went in!

They arrive today, have a circular base, gas-lift stool. Worry they might mark the karndean floor. Kids will be on/off them constantly with the novelty, hopefully not dragging them across the floor!

Don't see many images of rugs under Island stools. Anyone? Or just see how it goes? Thought of a runner?
