I moved into a new property recently and found this partially taken off the wall. The plaster behind it was badly damaged with a hole over 1 cm deep. I am not sure wether to remove it or keep it and repair the plaster behind it. I already started to fill it with polyfilla but I didn't look up what to use and halfway through realised I should probably check what is best!
looks like a cable distribution point for a streamed television service. if you are in a flat it may be a central shared dish service,so you might want to check, but otherwise it can be removed, if you dont intend using this type of service.
The black wires are most likely the incoming wires for your satellite TV. The black box looks like it needs a power supply to split the satellite signal to more than one location in your building- given there is no power and only one set of leads coming out of it that seems redundant. The white plastic thing also looks broken and redundant. Short term I would pull out the rawl plugs in the wall and fill the holes, use filler to make the wall tidier and discard the black box and broken white plate and instead connect the white wires directly to the black ones. Long term I would get an electrician to set a box into the wall and hide the satellite and phone behind a combined switch plate
