Deco tips to pop the space please

Hi, I'm looking for tips to pop this space. I realised I have been leaning towards the modern design but also going monochrome so wondering how best to utilise the space and combine colours to bring life to it.

I am looking for a centre table but torn on the type: metal, wood, marble etc and thoughts on other accessories/colour in the room that could work.

Second picture shows the carpet I have there from previous house but I am looking to take it away and the throw pillows.

Any tip would be helpful.

Hi Dee O, I think you've got a great neutral space to work with here with the flooring lending itself to almost any direction you want to go in. Have you considered one wall being the feature wall? A big trend this year is the dark blues & greys. They provide a striking feature and you could use this on one wall and then accessorise with striking white / pale art to create a real 'wow' factor. I'd invest in a white coffee table - to match your TV stand and I think then you have a great base for adding your choice of 'pop' colour - mustard yellow, rust or even some shades of pink. I'd use the pop colour in your soft furnishing - cushions, throws etc... and then maybe one statement piece, like an oversized floor-standing vase. Hope this helps. Jo

Hi Jo, very helpful indeed.

I have also been thinking in the line of rust copper.

Re feature wall, where would you recommend I set this? Note that the sofa area has a little indentation. Would it make sense to do just that area?

For TV stand, I am open to changing it as well. For some reason I also like the empty middle area though I want a coffee table too.

Hi Travis and SoYoung - thanks for mentioning the fireplace.....I was thinking that I would keep it simple with a wood shelf over it and a large piece of Art but I now think it might be a bit lost. Would love some ideas as it needs to work with the built-ins which are slightly domineering. Also, Liam_Boyle - agree re the unbalance. The TV will be staying but I have a lovely coffee table and 2 identical sofas coming so I'm hoping to lay out symmetrically in the room. Will keep 1 of the chairs. Hope this will balance up. Thanks.

i also wouldnt be too happy with this design, ist very boring, all Brown and tan... so. get some nice blues and teals for throws and cushions, maybe with bit of yellow in it a round or oval coffee glass table would work much better here and reflect more light, adding teal accents - vases, and Greens- artificial plants etc. rugs - some ideas - , get colourful deco accents on your fireplace mantel as well, no more tan ;) i love your clock, but i dont think this is the best place for it, i think a big nice artwork with some Pop would work much better here - clock could go to Foyer, staircase wall etc. artwork - good luck, hope that helped a bit.

Hi snan - to address your questions: 1 - yes, the lamps work very well. With regard to the height of the larger lamps: do you know how high they would be? If the bottom of the lampshade is even with the top of the pillows that should work. If they are taller than that I think you will be okay with the smaller lamps. Look back again at some of the pictures above to see what I mean. The thing that will look odd would be if the top of the lamps were taller than your headboard. The idea is that when you are in bed reading a book that you want the light to be able to reflect down. As far as the lampshade size goes on the smaller lamps I'm thinking the shorter ones since they don't seem to drop down as far as the larger ones. 2 & 3-Definitely chair by the mirrored bedside locker with one white locker on the other side. Without question. The chair to the left of the bed gave the room life. Use the extra white one in a closet or another room. You don't want to overcrowd your room when you are going for a tranquil setting. 4-Absolutely okay to have bedside tables that don't match and look good in the room. Whether or not you like that is a personal preference though. I would only put the mirrored one next to the bed though if you have the chair next to it. It's how they play off each other that makes it work. If you don't keep the chair next to the bed then I would use both white tables beside the bed. It is also fine that the pictures are off-centre to the wall as long as they are centered to the bed. :)

Hi Dee, Yes I'd suggest the wall behind the sofa. If you're looking for alternatives to a coffee table, you could look at a large ottoman which would serve as a coffee table and also storage.
