Advice for kitchen layout

Hi, my family is renovating an old kitchen in their country side house. I would love to hear some opinions on how to plan the furniture layout. The image attached shows a possible one (measures in cm), but doesn't include the fridge which we have to have. Looking forward to your ideas! Thanks in advance! Eva

If you're okay with losing the fireplace, it would make a great place for a range cooker with extractor hood as FRESH Architects suggested. I've seen a range in a fireplace not dissimilar to yours, with a tiled splashback in the chimney flume, it worked really well and contained cooking vapours.

You could have a narrow worktop on the left and an extra deep worktop on the right. This affords you more worktop space and you can even put narrow shelving along the wall and use it as a larder. To bring in more light you can install a side panel window (the kind you usually see with front/porch doors).

A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? We have recently restructured our existing cabinets to this layout and put in new countertops and it works far better than before!

Months of thinking about this layout and this is where we are at. I spoke with numerous kitchen makers and this is the best I have come up with for our open plan design. The space is 10.16m x 5.8m with a vaulted hip ceiling. Please give me your thoughts on this? is it functional? what could I/should I change?

Hi all. We are converting our garage and putting on a rear extension. The extension is not in the attached plan. We need need ideas for kitchen layout. I'd love an island but not sure if it would fit. The garage measures 15ft8" by 8ft3" without insulation. We also have a large American fridge freezer (27.5in deep, 33in wide) to accommodate and I want a good sized larder press. Had been looking at a corner one by the window at the front but would this leave the window too small?

Ok, no worries will do my best with what you have. Couple of initial suggestions. Sink to be moved away from the wall, at least slightly as what is shown will be difficult to build and seal properly. Is there a possibility of removing the partition between the kitchen and living room? You could then drag the kitchen counter out forming an island and add some additional seating which may make a better connection between the two spaces (this will depend on wall construction of that partition). The fire place I mentioned, because often existing stacks no longer being used as a chimney for a fireplace can be used to vent above a hob or at least utilised effectively some other way. However if this is to be retained then that of course won’t be possible. Does the room have any windows?

The door (half glass) is the back entrance to the house from a patio, that, and the living room windows are the light points of the kitchen- so a bit dark.

It would not be possible to remove the partition on the left. just on the right, next to the kitchen furniture. (current image)
it might be possible to open a small window next to the door though.

Hi Wumi, thanks a lot for your proposal!
installing a range cooker would be nice, but the fireplace is something that we would like to keep, as it is large and cozy.
Where would you put the fridge?

Would this make a better snug ? And relocate kitchen to a larger room that’s not got the cosy fireplace ?

I’d put a fridge freezer in top left or bottom left corner. But thinking about what would sed about the fireplace, I think OnePlan question is valid. Will you really get to enjoy the fireplace in that space if you convert it to a kitchen?
