Our house has pretty new leaded windows in black frames throughout, we are creating a large new window in our kitchen and wonder whether we can get away with not having leading on it, will it look too strange especially as the other windows in the kitchen are leaded?
Could you share a picture of the area? I have leaded windows in my front bay window, but not on my back kitchen windows. In fact only the bay is leaded!
@Sonia sounds very similar to ours! The first photo is the front of the house with all leaded windows, the second photo is the rear, as you can see we have leading in the door beside what will be the new window (where the OSB is). Do you have any photos of yours please? Thanks for your help!
I’ll be honest I’m not mad on leaded windows unless they are original to the house. Our front bay was rotten in places when we moved in so we had it replaced with a UPVC window with leaded strips outside. Here’s the front bay and the sliding doors and smaller window in the kitchen which don't have leading.
We had lots of leading in ours when we moved in - have recently had most replaced and the increase in the amount of light we get now is incredible considering the lead strips aren’t very thick. We do have a slight combination in that the windows which form part of the patio doors ( above them) are still leaded, as is our bathroom, but I actually don’t think it looks odd at all. personally I’d never opt for leaded now through choice. I’ll try and attach a pic…
