How to decorate a dark narrow hallway with lots of wooden frames?

Hi Houzzers, my first post - quite a design novice so would love your help, please! My flat is an ex-council one, c. 1960s I think. The hallway is long and narrow, and whilst it looks relatively light here, that's short-lived - most of the day it feels very dark. When we moved in it was in a terrible state and I couldn't figure out what to do with the wood, so we just cleaned it up and painted the floor, and did the walls white as a temporary fix. I'd love to make it a more impactful entrance to my home, warmer and inviting, and lighter. But the wood - what to do? It is better to make a feature out of it - either treating it and leaving it looking like wood, or painting a contrasting colour - or to blend it in? Every room, and storage, in the hallway has a wooden frame, plus the doorways have windows above. There's also extra panels from a door we closed up. Hope the pics make sense! Would love any ideas. Thanks in advance, Francesca
